The Job Characteristics Model - Motivation Theory

JCM proposes that any job can be described in terms of five core dimensions.
Skill variety – degree to which job requires variety of different activities that require different skills and talent.
Task identity – degree to which job requires completion of a whole piece of work.
Task significance – degree to which the job has a substantial impact on the lives or work of others.
Autonomy – degree to which the job provides substantial freedom, independence, and discretion to the individual.
Feedback – degree to which the individual obtains direct and clear information about the effectiveness of performance.
